God
I will make it simple.
Our planet is God.
Doesn't it make sense in a way? Just think about it. What are the qualities we attribute God? Omniscience, omnipotence, omnipresence.
If we assume the quality of conscience for the planet, as an extremely large organism that thinks, I think it has all the attributes. It definately is omnipresent for us, it is all around us as earth and it's surrounding atmosphere. Adding together omnipresence and sentience, we get omniscient because by being everywhere at once, the planet would know everything. And by actually controlling our living environmnet, the planet certainly is omnipotent.
We don't have to assume too much as the planet would indeed be in full control of every process on earth, be it biological, genetic or physics. This would validate both religious and scientific theories regarding the birth of mankind.
This would explain why certain physical phenomena are unpredictable and are likely to remain that way (such as meteorology, since atmospheric predictions can be made only for very short periods of time, the rest being based on statistics).
What else can I say?
The planet has a way of adapting in various situations.
Overpopulation is met with natural catastrophes, wars and mutations (see the genetic mutation that causes homosexuality in people, as a means to prevent further population growth, a spontaneous mutation without a visible cause).
If there was a man to indeed be 'the son of the planet' he could very well walk on water or change water to wine as the planet would easily be able to accomodate such molecular changes.
If this was true then the prophet Moses could have easily parted waters with the planet's help.
The idea of a sentient planet is not new at all, but the more I look around, the more I feel this might be an answer that would bring a lot of things in harmony, science and religion and philosophy.
Maybe heaven was indeed a place on Earth, a place that still eludes our research.
Still, there are a lot of maybes and all proof is circumstantial at best. Yet any theories in this regard cannot be truly validated without God manifesting its presence in a way we can comprehend without doubt or ambiguity.
But ... maybe this is exactely what the planet is trying to do?
